After World War II, all the members of
the Stevenson family were finally reunited after 4 years. My uncle finally came back to Canada
in 1945 after spending almost 4 years in prison camps after the Battle of Hong Kong. He had burns on both his arms from a
mine explosion. He told us the story of the explosion and I am so thankful that he is still alive and didn't suffer the same
fate as other Canadians at the prison camps. When my father arrived back from the Raid on Dieppe
he quit his job as a soldier. He decided that he did not want to risk his life again and became a manager at an Eaton's Franchise.
He is making good money and supporting our family excellently. When my father came home, my mother immediately quit her job
as a factory worker and went back to cooking and cleaning. My mother did a fantastic job supporting me and my brother while
my father had left for war, now she can have her old life back. My aunt Min is now a professor at the University
of Kelowna. She saw and heard the explosion from the Atomic bomb even though she was 100 km away. I
am so happy she is still alive to tell her story. My brother and I are just so happy that our family is reunited again
and we are looking ahead to a good future for the Stevenson's.
